Expected Use:
- The Global Footer Navigation is the final section on all pages of all Emerson websites. It allows visitors to navigate to key sections of the site or to external sites such as blogs and social media channels. It also reinforces the Emerson tagline, “Emerson. Consider It Solved™.”
- The footer is comprised of link groupings with featured links, social media links, and a secondary list of links to pages that are often legally required.
- Link Groupings with Featured Links: Because the site can have many different content types and sections, it’s important to group links to help organize them. This grouping helps visitors quickly scan lists of primary links in order to make a decision.
- Social Media Links: Upon selecting from a row of social media icons, the visitor will navigate to the specific social media channel.
- Secondary Links: Privacy Notice, Cookies, Terms of Use, Data Protection, Imprint, Sitemap, and Communication Preferences links are examples of secondary links that appear at the bottom of the footer.
- Promotional Space: This section in the bottom right of the footer can be used to place an image for a marketing promotion or message.
How to Build the Footer:
The G007/G007B is the representation of the complete global footer navigation on emerson.com and other approved sites. You will see two variations on OSG for G007 (emerson.com) and G007B (Climate, ComRes eSites, and Other Approved Sites). While each of these has some differences, they are all built from the same two main parts. This is explained in the instructions for each. When viewing the footer on a site you will notice a slight difference in the saturation of the black background color between the two halves of the footer.
- G008 - Primary Footer Navigation - this is the top half of the footer.
- On emerson.com this houses a Default Collection for the rows of links to various groupings of pages and external links of the site along with a Default Teaser footer promotion area that includes the brand promise statement.
- On other approved sites this houses a Default Collection for the the rows of links to various groupings of pages and external links for the site as on emerson.com. A slight difference is the G022 - Approved Sites Footer Promo. This does not include the brand promise. Additionally, there are two other components that can be added: G010 - Footer Social Links Collection and the G023 - Approved Sites Footer Utility Navigation links.
- G009 - Secondary Footer Navigation - this is the bottom half of the footer.
- On emerson.com this houses the G010 - Footer Social Links Collection and a Default Collection for the footer utility navigation links that house the legal pages.
- On other approved sites this houses two Teasers: the G020 - Logo for the Emerson helix and the G024 - Approved Sites Footer Corp Promise.
- Additionally, there are optionally two more Teasers that may be added to the Footer Placement on a Page to provide overlay banners for G005 - Cookie Notice and G006 - Locale Mismatch where applicable. The Cookie Notice is generally for providing information required by privacy regulations. The Locale Mismatch is used for commerce to check transaction locale.
While these two (or three or four) main component collections (and teasers) sit together in the "Footer" of a CoreMedia Page, there is no overarching G007 Collection that unites these components. The G007/G007B designation is simply for reference in defining the Global Footer Navigation as a whole. See the instructions (linked above) for building each of the individual components.
