Resource Bundles control the translation of labels (content) that is not directly included in a component or page throughout the site. This often includes use of CoreMedia Tags that are attached to a Page and other content when they are used in a component. This also applies to various content labels that are used for sitewide functionality such as onsite search, online support, and newsroom. Each locale has its own set of resource bundles. These bundle files can most easily be found on the Localization tab of the locale’s homepage.
As of 2/2021 the ability for an author to “copyover” and localize these resource bundles without the need for Enterprise IT to perform the task has been completed. These can be sent through the traditional localization process and propagated to child locales when updates are made.
Over time the Resource Bundles have become difficult to manage due to the size of some of them. They have grown significantly in number of entries and are difficult to navigate and determine whether an entry exists or not. We have recently broken out the bundle files into the list below to make it easier to update and manage. The entries in these files are kept in alphabetical order to further ease maintenance. Please be considerate and keep these files clean and orderly when making changes.
When the system is trying to use a CoreMedia Tag and it is not found in a Resource Bundle, the system will default to the Tag name in the Tag Library. While an author should not rely upon this, it does provide some backup when a Tag has not been added to a Resource Bundle. This also allows any Tag that has not been localized to still show in English with its original Tag name until it is published in an updated Resource Bundle.
