This page is intended to give you an overview of various parts of the user interface for CoreMedia Studio.
Dashboard (F2)
The dashboard can be used to create searches for often searched document types and keywords along with recently edited content of specific document types and keywords.
Library (F3)
One of the most useful tools in the interface, the library allows you to view content by folders as well as search for content by keyword and document type. The library is one of the most important tools regarding searching for documents and creating new ones.
The library offers two different modes:
library mode browse tree folder structure
search mode full-text search using filters
the library can be opened in multiple ways:
„Library“-Button: Library mode
„Favorites“-Buttons: Search mode with predefined filters
The library mode is being used to … create content in a specific folder create new folders delete content move content to another folder copy content
Copying and moving content move content using drag and drop copy contents by drag and drop while holding the ctrl key we recommend using the tools
Library Search Mode
find documents based on type and search term (e.g.: all pages, that contain the term “Rosemount”)
the breadcrumb can be used to limit the search to a specific folder and its subfolders. Examples:
all content of Chef Corp. Chef Corp. – English (United States)
all editorial content of Perfect Chef Chef Corp. – English (United States) > Content
the results can be refined using filters (e.g. filtering for the document status):
show only published documents
show documents that I edited
a search configuration can be saved as a button in the favorites bar
Repository (Folder) Structure
the structure suggests where to put documents
the repository can contain more than one website. Each website will reside in its own folder
All Content > Sites > Chef Corp.
All Content > Sites > Aurora Augmentation
…
below the website folder are subfolders for editorial, structural and configurational content (may be different per site)
All Content > Sites > [Site] > [country] > [lang] > Assets contains assets like pictures, videos
All Content > Sites > [Site] > [country] > [lang] > Content contains the structure and editorial content of the website
All Content > Sites > [Site] > [country] > [lang] > Options contains configuration and other technical documents
The structure of the repository is a convention and no technical restriction
Below the folder “Content" the content is usually structured analog to the navigational structure
Control Room (F4)
Here is a summary of the Control Room. You will find further detail in the Resources area Control Room. The Control Room is where you will find the following window panes:
My Edited Content - this will show the most recent items you have edited. This can be helpful when you need to edit items in different folders at the same time.
My Projects - any projects you create are shown here.
Publication Workflows - if you are using publishing workflows they can be found here. This is a site-wide listing of all publication workflows, not just your own.
Localization Workflows - if you are involved in translations and localization of content, those workflows are shown here. This is a site-wide listing of all localization workflows, not just your own.
Bookmarks
You will see a folder with a star on the left of the Studio. This is where you can quickly access folders or content you have bookmarked. You bookmark a folder or document by highlighting the item in the library and clicking on the "star" icon.
Last Edited
By clicking on the Last edited folder with the magnifying glass (signifying a search) you will be taken to the search pane of the Library with a listing of your most recent edited content. The pictures and pages folder on the left under the Last edited folder perform a similar search returning your most recent edited pictures and pages.
