Welcome to Emerson's internal digital governance website. Our governing framework is structured around the people, processes and technology needed to measure and continuously improve Emerson.com and approved websites. To achieve the strategic goals of the business and meet the changing needs of customers, Emerson Digital Governance is organized into three governing bodies: The Digital Advisory Board, the Emerson.com Governance Team and Functional Governance Teams. Four Functional Governance Teams are dedicated to maintaining best practices and solving issues in Commerce, Catalog, Content and Digital Intelligence.

Please note: If you want to report an issue like an outage or have a technical service request, do not use the Emerson Digital Governance request system. Instead, submit a Service Now ticket.

How do I request a new website or piece of functionality?

Fill out the form below and the request will be reviewed by the appropriate governance team.

What's the difference between submitting a request to Emerson Digital Governance versus submitting a ticket to Service Now?

Digital Governance handles requests to enhance the features, experience, or functionality of an Emerson.com website. IF you want to submit a ticket for something like a service outage or have technical service request then please submit a Service Now.

How do I submit a request to Emerson Digital Governance?

How do I request a change to a site?

As long as this is not a defect that needs to be handled through a Service Now ticket, please fill out the request form and a Functional Governance Team member will get in contact with you.

How do I submit a request to add a new page?

You can speak to your platform marketing representative about adding a new page. Unless the page needs to be added to the site navigation or seeks to use components in a technically difficult way, you do not need to submit a request to create a new page through this governing body, with the previous exceptions noted.

How do I submit a request to add a new piece of functionality or feature?

Submit your request to the Content Governance Team for all items not commerce- or catalog-related. This should be done through your Platform representative. Once a request is approved a ticket can be created in Jira, or if a ticket already exists, it can be moved to the backlog. If the request is a larger piece of functionality, it may be moved from a maintenance request to a feature story for an upcoming Program Increment. Tickets that have been approved for feature stories can be found on SharePoint when all criteria have been filled out on the request.

How do I submit a bug?

Please do not use the Emerson Digital Governance request system. Instead submit a Service Now ticket.

How long does a request take to complete?

Depending on the complexity of the request it may take several sprint cycles for your request to become a ticket, be prioritized for a development sprint and then be implemented by Enterprise IT.

Who is my point of contact pending request resolution?

The contact will be assigned based on which Functional Governance Team handles the request.

How will I know if my request was accepted?

A representative from a Functional Governance Team will reach out to you to set expectations and outline next steps.

How do I track my request?

Once your request has been considered and approved, a JIRA ticket with a tracking ID will be created in most cases. In some cases, if the request requires standing up a new project, your request will presented to the Emerson.com Governance Team for wider consideration. If approved by the Emerson.com Governance Team, the request will then be presented to the Digital Advisory Board for final approval or rejection.

How do I validate a request was completed to my satisfaction?

In most cases, you will be able to validate a change in a testing environment before your request is implemented in a production environment. You may be asked to supplement the internal QA team with your own internal resources to assure the request was implemented to your satisfaction. If some requirements of the request have changed you will be notified by your Functional Team representative who first helped bring the request to the attention of Emerson Digital Governance.

About Emerson Governance

Emerson Digital Governance was established in 2017 to help steward the digital transformation of Emerson.com and approved sites.

The governing board and teams include the participation of marketers and technologists from Corporate, Automation Solutions and Commercial & Residential Solutions. With a charge from the Digital Advisory Board to promote shared services and increase digital efficiencies throughout the organization, the Emerson.com Governance Team and its four reporting Functional Teams establish and oversee the processes for maintaining and enhancing Emerson.com and approved sites. Here are answers to commonly asked questions about Emerson Digital Governance and how to engage with it.

What is the role of Emerson Digital Governance?

The role of Emerson Digital Governance is to oversee and steer Emerson.com and approved digital web properties. Emerson Digital Governance addresses the needs of internal businesses and customers through the creation and oversight of processes, standards and definitions that foster continuous improvement by:

1. Providing a collaboration model that enables the building, support and improvement of a flexible digital marketing and ecommerce platform
2. Implementing procedures to maximize reuse of code, content, creative assets and data across the Emerson.com digital ecosystem
3. Supporting shared expertise and cross-pollination of knowledge/learning of processes, policies and best practices
4. Managing progress, measuring delivery and ensuring outcomes"

How is Emerson Digital Governance organized?

Emerson Digital Governance is organized into three bodies:

1. The Digital Advisory Board
2. The Emerson.com Governance Team
3. Functional Governance Teams

The Digital Advisory Board acts as the supervisory body that defines the structure, staffing and focus of the other governing bodies. When the Emerson.com Governance Team identifies an issue or project opportunity, it presents that to the Digital Advisory Board for guidance and, in some cases, budgetary approval to proceed with a project. The Digital Advisory Board meets quarterly and includes the Emerson Corporate CMO and CIO, the head of the Governance Team, as well as the CMO and CIO from both business platforms, Enterprise IT leadership and other select leaders with deep digital experience.

The Emerson.com Governance Team is the glue for Emerson Digital Governance. It oversees the four Functional Governance Teams and receives inputs from those teams about pending issues and/or needs. When the Emerson.com Governance Team identifies an issue or project to pursue, it reports to the Digital Advisory Board. At the direction and discretion of the Digital Advisory Board, the Emerson.com Governance Team ensures the execution of any strategies, projects or issues that have been prioritized by the Digital Advisory Board. The Emerson.com Governance Team meets monthly and includes representation from the four Functional Governance Teams and select members of Enterprise IT and subject matter experts from the two business platforms.

The four Functional Governance Teams focus on best practices and issues that have been bubbled up by the two business platforms or Corporate. Representatives from the two business platforms and Corporate Marketing and Corporate IT, as well as agency-partner representatives, sit on these teams. The teams meet monthly and identify issues that either require the creation of a JIRA ticket or a formal presentation to the Emerson.com Governance Team for further consideration. Members of the Functional Governance Teams present such issues to the Emerson.com Governance Team on a monthly basis at the Emerson.com Governance Team meeting.

Each Functional Governance Team has a Business Lead and an IT Lead. The Business Lead is a representative from Automation Solutions, Commercial & Residential Solutions or Corporate Marketing. The IT Lead is from Corporate IT.

How often do the different governing Teams and the Digital Advisory Board meet?

Meeting Cadence - The Emerson.com Governance Team and its four Functional Governance Teams each meet separately once a month. Members from the four Functional Governance Teams join the monthly Emerson.com Governance Team meetings. The Digital Advisory Board meets quarterly, but may be called into session earlier to resolve pressing issues as required.

Annual or Strategic Meetings - The Emerson.com Governance Team will meet twice annually in face-to-face meetings. This should occur in the spring and fall. The fall meeting will be used to review the Emerson.com roadmap for the upcoming fiscal year and the longer range plan for the next three years. Functional Governance Team business and IT leads will be invited to participate in these meetings.

Emergency Meetings - In case of time-sensitive issues, team members may request an extraordinary meeting and the Business Team Lead should not unreasonably deny this request. A quorum of members should participate in an extraordinary meeting or an attempt to gain feedback should be obtained from a proxy or via email before or immediately after the meeting. In certain cases the team may also deem a request time-sensitive, but allow for questions and decisions to be made via email.

How do I get an issue or project proposal in front of the Digital Advisory Board?

In order to get a project proposal in front of the Digital Advisory Board, you must first submit a request and have it vetted by the appropriate Functional Governance Team. Upon review, the request will be rejected or approved. If approved, additional requirements will be gathered and a presentation will be made to the Emerson.com Governance Team. If approved by the Emerson.com Governance Team, a final presentation will be made to the Digital Advisory Board to proceed with or reject the proposal. In some cases, the Digital Advisory Board will also rule on the level of funding the project will or will not receive.

Which websites are governed by Emerson Digital Governance?

Emerson.com and all of its sub-domains, including but not limited to climate.emerson.com, sensi.emerson.com, proteam.emerson.com, insinkerator.emerson.com, workshop.emerson.com, as well as regional or local variations, including international business units not on the Emerson.com platform. While not on the same platform as Emerson.com, the Digital Governance Board also partners with the following product brands to ensure stylistic and functional parity: Ridgid.com, Greenlee.com, Klauke.com and HD Electric Company properties, as well as all regional or local variations. Brands that have been recently acquired by Emerson may still be in the process of migrating to the Emerson.com platform or are following steps to align with the stylistic and functional experience of Emerson.com.
