VN004 Jump Nav

Layout Variant: N/A

Content Type: N/A

Expected Use:

The Jump Nav is not set up as a CoreMedia Layout Variant. It is constructed completely different than other visual navigation components. This is a navigation bar that appears beneath a Hero component and “snaps” the user to specific areas of that Page (jump link), as listed in the jump navigation bar. You should create titles that relate to the section in which the jump navigation lands, and make it easy for the user to understand that the jump navigation and the page sections are correlated.

Building the navigation:

  • The Jump Nav resides on a CoreMedia Page. This is not an actual component but is a feature on Landing type pages.  This feature is managed at the component level however.
  • For the components on your Page that you wish to include in the Jump Nav, check the "Enable Jump Navigation" check box on any component that you want to appear inside a jump navigation.
  • The green navigation bar will appear automatically at the top of the Page.
  • You do not need to select all of the components on a Page. If some components are logically grouped together you may want to only add the first component of the group to the Jump Navigation. For components that are not set, they will not appear in the Jump Navigation bar.
  • Ensure the Teaser title is entered on the selected component. (This is the feild that will be displayed in the actual jump navigation.) The label for a given section defaults to the Teaser Title of that component. In many cases you will want to have a different label and that can be defined in the Jump Navigation section by adding text in the "Alternate Title" field which will override the default title.
  • If you want a component to be in the jump navigation on one landing page but not another, you will need to duplicate that component and properly check or uncheck the jump navigation feature.
  • In other words, if you select a component to be a part of the jump navigation, it will always be a part of the jump navigation on all pages that it is added to.
  • Per design standards, the jump nav should not be used with more than 5 jump points on the page to keep the jump nav list user friendly.
