The Social Buttons Inline component is available to be placed on Brand page layout for brands that have a strong social networking presence, or for other pages where external links to social networking makes sense. Each row can contain up to four icons and a max of 8 per two rows. Ideally placed towards the bottom of a page.
The series of social buttons featured toward the bottom page to encourage users to connect with a brand's social media page. This is used strictly for promoting external links to social media/social networking presence. The logo images are provided by Digitas and contain the on/off hover states.
If the standard version of the social sharing bar does not meet your needs on a specific page you may create an alternate version from the available social properties that are currently defined. New icons for this component require coordination with a developer and will need approval from the Content Governance Team.
Current Icons include: Blog, Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn, Instagram, Naver, Pinterest, TikTok, RSS, Twitter X, WeChat, Weibo, YouTube. Although these icons are available, not all have been configured to be used. If you wish to use a new option, you will need to request approval through your platform representative. (Some of these cannot be used for S001 regardless - eg. you cannot post to YouTube.)
Nothing is required in the S002 Collection other than setting the Layout Variant to "Default". and the CTA Button to "Use Default Call-to-Action" Label. No Teaser Text used in the Collection. The Image and CTA will come from the Teasable Item.
On the Teasable Item's Content Tab, add the Teaser Title, set the CTA Button to "No Call-To-Action Button" and Layout Variant to "S002". Add the logo image of the branded social network page that will be displayed (Typically set as External Links) on the Items. The image on the External Link serves as the Social Button CTA. CTAs are not used on this component as they are pulled from the logo images added to the component. Once the image is clicked it allows the user to go to a branded social network page.
Authors have the option to pick and choose the background color on the "Content Tab" under the "Background Color" section. This will display the social media icons with the selected background color.
Note that there are a number of available social icons (refer to the list above). However, those added to the S002 Regression page are only those with official live Emerson links such as Linkedin, Twitter, YouTube, Facebook and WeChat (for China sites only). As of 2024, YouKu is taken off the list of official Emerson social sites.
