Expected Use:

Used on emerson.com and extended sites as part of the global nav. This menu style allows you to segment the menu into 4 columns. Each column is separated by a thin vertical line to denote the columnar nature of the content. There is a title for each column that can (optionally) be an active CTA link.

As a supplemental component to the G001, the G014B Global Header Navigation Segmented Menu is a variant of the G014 allowing authors to optionally include one or more “View All” or other relevant Text CTAs within each of the menu’s columns.

Authors may add 2,3, or 4 editable headlines to segment this menu style, but it is recommended to use only 2 or 4 for a more balanced appearance. The headers/titles are static. Use G015 to edit your headers and convert to hyperlinks.

The segmented menu can accommodate up to 9-10 items per column. Longer items will wrap to a second line and authors should reduce the number of items to avoid overflow.

How to Build the Menu:

Create a Collection and set the Layout Variant to G014 or G014b.

  • Teaser Title - this is the title of the menu. (e.g. "Support") This text will need to be translated. Important note: a link is not supported here.
  • Items -  You will create 4 collections with a "Default" Layout Variant and drop them in the Items List of the G014 or G014b. See below for building out these Collections.
  • Promotional Teaser - The menu allows for one or two optional "eSpots" that are activated by adding teasable content to the Promotional Teaser. This can be a Page, External Link, Download, etc.

Building the Collections for the 4 Columns:

For each collection you will need to author the following:

  • Each column has a title (header label). The default behavior is for the Teaser Title of the Collection to be displayed as the header label.
    • If you want the title (header label) to be hyperlinked to a page, add the "titleTarget" property setting to manage the link.
    • If a linked CTA is included, the Teaser Title of the linked Teaser will be displayed as the header and be a clickable link. Refer to the third column sample on the G012-G014 Regression Page --> G014-G014b.
  • Items - the primary use case is to add Teasers to the Items List of these Collections. The Titles of the Teasers will be displayed in the navigation. Note, you may add teasable content such as a Page, External Links, Downloads, Product Teasers and Videos to the Items.
  • A max of 8 Teaser can be added to each Collection.
  • Optional Local Settings - Authors can enable optional features to display content by adding/enabling the following properties.
    • "titleTarget" -  a link type (displayed as Link to All). A Teaser needs to be added as value in order to enable hyperlink. Refer to first column on the G012-G014 Regression Page --> G014-G014b.
    • "callToActionDisabled" - a shortcut boolean type that disables CTA button display.
