A supplemental left-rail component in a C044 or C034 Case Study (for use exclusively with L026 and L026B layouts), this component allows content authors to create three “related content” teasers, each with a headline, body copy, and a link. There is also component eyebrow reserved for the words “Related Content” (although content authors may change this). There is also an author-able optional link at the bottom of the component that typically says “”View All Related Content”.
A feature of this component is that the current page being displayed will programmatically be excluded from the query results so that a reader will not see the current page in the list of "related content" which would be redundant.
This component sits in the left rail of a C034 or C044 Case Study 1x2 Grid. You will create a C044 or C034 and add this C081 Collection as a "Show Embedded" link in the left rail.
This component is intended to be similar to the C009/C009B Latest News Components. You can build this component as a Query List and have the content dynamically displayed based on the tags you use for your query. The primary use case was developed to allow additional articles to show from an author who had written the article being viewed on the right half of the case study grid.
On the Content Tab include a Teaser Title that will appear at the top-left of the component. This is the blue title shown all in caps. In addition, the Related Articles Page should be Search Teaser in the primary use case with a query to find all articles with your Query List criteria. This could go to a specific tab in the Search Results Page or to the News & Events Page with any filters you wish to apply by default. Set the Layout Variant to C081.
On the Conditions tab of your Query List Document you will select your content type(s) and conditions. For Content Type you will usually select Page in most use cases. You may select other content types or even select All, but understand what might be pulled into your query results.
Unless you choose the appropriate Tags in the Search Query section, you may get unintended items in your results. Start by selecting "Tag (Subject)" for your "Content Must Apply To" option. From there you can select the tags you wish to use for the query. For example, in most use cases we are looking for case study articles by a particular author. To appropriately select just these items you should include tags such as "People" and/or "Perspectives" from the Subject Tags. You can also include other relevant tags such as Business Platform, Brand, Industry, etc.
In the bottom section "Sorting of the Search Results" you should first select "External Display Date" for the "By what should the results be sorted?" question. This is why adding the External Display Date to all of your content is important, especially news articles. If you want the most recent dated items returned you need to select "Descending" for the "By which order should the search results be sorted?" question. Finally, this component is intended to include 3-4 articles. Set "How many items should be displayed in the list" at 3 or 4 items. You can have more if you have a longer article and space allows.
To manually select what appears you will go to the Content Tab. Even though you are not using the query, make sure the number of "items to display" at the bottom of the Conditions tab needs to be set to the expected number of items you will curate, generally between 3 and 4. Go to the Content tab and under Items add whatever content you wish to have displayed. It will appear in the order it is added to the Items list.
Note, you can combine the dynamic query with the curated items. If you set a query and add only one item to the Items list, you will get dynamic results for the remaining number of items defined. This can be used if you wish to "pin" an item to the list manually if the date is not the most recent.
This component uses several text fields that need translated content. These can be found in one of the Bundle files which are most easily accessed on the Localization tab of the Homepage.
