Expected Use:

The General Documents & Drawings component should be used for product categories and system and software products that have more case studies and documentation than would be appropriate for use with the C029 Case Study Strip. The documents should be sourced dynamically from CoreMedia’s digital asset management tool.

Building the Component:

The only field that requires text in the C030 Collection is the Teaser Title to appear at the top left of the component and setting of Layout Variant to C030. A Teaser Text is not needed. Add any number of Download type Items to the  Items List of the C030 Collection. There is no CTA for this component, the Items are the CTAs that drive to the Download content.

This feature uses the same tags as used for documents on the PDP. The component will use the tagging structure under: “Subject -> Product Assets -> Documents and Drawings”. Note: You do not have to associate a product for C030. You only need to add the documents to the Items List. The language and tag values appear by default design.

Note that to ensure that the added documents can be filtered by languages, you need to add the language tag on the Metadata tab via Subject --> Product Assets --> Language --> Local Language and select the correct Locale on the Localization tab. A project is underway to have the ability to add more locales in the future.

Alternate version using Custom Tags:

If you follow the steps above, the component will use the tagging structure under: “Subject -> Product Assets -> Documents and Drawings”.

To use a different set of tags:

  • You should use a set of tags that currently exist. If not, you may create new tags, although this requires governance approval before you add new tags. The tag structure you wish to use will need to be at least two levels deep.
  • On your C030 collection, you’ll need to add a Local Setting.  This is only needed if you aren’t using the default tag.  The local setting will need the property “menuTaxonomies” and the value should be the parent tag that you want to use. Note: The original instructions are shown here. The Local Settings field on the System Tab is locked for authors. You must create a Settings Document and add it to the Linked Settings in the System Tab of the C030 Collection.
  • Note adding a tag to a local setting is tricky.  The best way to do this is the open library and select “All Content”
  • Switch the document type to “Tag”
  • You can now find the parent tag in the list or filter by entering the name in the search field.
  • Drag and drop the parent tag onto the “Value” field of the “Local Settings” on the C030 Collection.
  • Alternately, add a "Link" setting then add the property "menuTaxonomies" and the appropriate Tag for the value.
