Teaser Title | Teaser Text | Pictures and Media | Items | CTAs | |
C009b Query List | Yes | No | Yes | Optional | No |
Curated Items | Yes | Yes | No | -- | -- |
Queried Content | Yes | Yes | No | -- | -- |
Six most recent items expected from query results or curated items. This could be fewer, but should be a minimum of four for the component to function correctly. Three most recent prominently displayed in the first three columns, remaining one to three display in the right column automatically stacked.
On the Content Tab include a Teaser Title that will appear at the top-left of the component. In addition, the Related Articles Page should be set to the News & Events page in the primary use case. If this component is used elsewhere there may be a use case for a Search Teaser with the target of the News & Events page and any filters you wish to apply by default. Set the Layout Variant to C009b.
On the Conditions tab of your Query List Document you will select your content type(s) and conditions. For Content Type you will usually select Page in most use cases. You may select other content types or even select All, but understand what might be pulled into your query results.
Unless you choose the appropriate Tags in the Search Query section, you may get unintended items in your results. Start by selecting "Tag (Subject)" for your "Content Must Apply To" option. From there you can select the tags you wish to use for the query. For example, in most use cases we are looking for news articles. To appropriately select just these items you should include tags such as "Topic Area" and/or "Subjects" from the News & Events Tags. You can also include other relevant tags such as Business Platform, Brand, Industry, etc.
In the bottom section "Sorting of the Search Results" you should first select "External Display Date" for the "By what should the results be sorted?" question. This is why adding the External Display Date to all of your content is important, especially news articles. If you want the most recent dated items returned you need to select "Descending" for the "By which order should the search results be sorted?" question. Finally, this component is intended to be 4 columns across where the fourth column may contain 1-3 headlines. Set "How many items should be displayed in the list" at 4, 5 or 6 items.
To manually select what appears you will go to the Content Tab. Even though you are not using the query, make sure the number of "items to display" at the bottom of the Conditions tab needs to be set to the expected number of items you will curate between 4 and 6. Go to the content tab and under Items add whatever content you wish to have displayed. It will appear in the order it is added to the Items list.
Note, you can combine the dynamic query with the curated items. If you set a query and add only one item to the Items list, you will get dynamic results for the remaining number of items defined. This can be used if you wish to "pin" an item to the list manually if the date is not the most recent.
The component design allows a tag to be used to display a text label at the top of the first three items. It is currently set to use: Subject -> News and Events -> Topic Area
This is accomplished with a setting entry in the SearchConfiguration Settings file (which can be located on the Homepage System tab) with the following details:
property: latestnews.homepage.topicarea.tag
value: Topic Area (Tag)
link to type: Tag
This component uses several text fields that need translated content. These can be found in one of the Bundle files which are most easily accessed on the Localization tab of the Homepage.
