The "Front Door" is used on emerson.com for visitors who directly type "emerson.com" into their browser or use a referral link that is simply "emerson.com". When no page/locale is specified the user is sent to the front door to choose their preferred country/language. This happens in roughly 5% of visitors. Once a locale is selected, the system drops a cookie to remember the user's preference for 6 months.
The Front Door is programatically driven by the system. The country and language choices are defined in a Settings File (Front Door Locale Settings) on the emerson.com Homepage. The actual page is simply a shell that contains a component to show those settings in a G019 Layout Variant added to the Main in the Placement of the Page.
